European funding for UK research

The UK has received a large proportion of the ERC grants and very good representation in the Framework projects.  There has been some calls to readdress the 'grant geographical balance' which can affect the level of funding in the future. Another interesting article on European funding for the UK in yesterday The Guardian. The importance of the European Union for the UK's science base | Athene Donald http://gu.com/p/3g64k/tw

Also the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) has launched a Call for Evidence on the government's review of the balance of competences between the UK and the EU. The deadline for submitting responses is 6 August 2013. https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/199991/bis-13-866-balance-of-competences-review-research-and-development-call-for-evidence.pdf
