Research Projects awarded for Instruct-ULTRA call to enrich and expand access providing services

19-Oct-2018

Five research projects have been awarded for the second Instruct-ULTRA call to develop existing technologies and widen structural biology access to new communities.

Two of the projects involve collaborations with countries outside of the current Instruct-ERIC membership: Masarykova Univerzita (Czech Republic) is working with the University of Vienna to develop nuclear magnetic resonance paramagnetic relaxation methods for studies of intrinsically disordered proteins; Instruct teams in Spain (Jose M. Carazo, CNB- CSIC) and Portugal (Margarida Archer) are working to develop CryoEM within Latin America.

Other research projects comprise collaborations with industry: Researchers at Leiden University are working with Nexperion to design of a UV sterilization device for cryoEM samples; a team from Ethinko Idryma Erevnon (Greece) are collaborating with Uni-Pharma on structural studies of intrinsically disordered proteins towards the development of formulations for market- oriented pharmaceutical products; Karolinksa Institutet are working with a Pharmaceutics partner on protein therapeutics.

Each project receives funding from Instruct-ULTRA, and should start in the next few months. For more information, click here
