ISPC (WIS) Israel

The Weizmann Institute is an internationally acclaimed basic research institute specializing in multidisciplinary areas in the exact and life sciences.

The Structural Proteomics Unit (SPU) within the Weizmann Institute of Science provides service, consultation, and guidance to scientists at any stage along the pipeline from gene to structure. The SPU implements state-of-the-art technologies for challenging scientific questions and offers various services, including protein production, purification, and crystallization screening. Weizmann’s Electron Microscope (EM) unit offers cryo-STEM, cryo-TEM imaging, and tomography.

The Weizmann Institute is one of the world’s leading multidisciplinary research institutions. Prof. Ada Yonath from the Department of Chemical and Structural Biology received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2009 for deciphering the structure of the ribosome.

Flagship Service/Technology at ISPC (WIS) Israel:

Protein production in bacteria, baculovirus, and mammalian cells. Proteins are typically purified following a standard 3 step protocol which includes: affinity capture, ion exchange and size exclusion. Specific techniques can be employed depending on the protein, the experimental requirements, tags and yields. Removal of tags with TEV protease can be employed.
