Messaging via the proposal moderation page (for moderators)

Not a moderator? See ARIA Messaging Inbox, Messaging via the dashboard (for access users), or Messaging via the access dashboard (for service providers).

  1. Go to structuralbiology.eu and login.

  2. Click on "Your Admin" on the ARIA bar at the bottom of the page. (If you cannot see this then you can access the page via structuralbiology.eu/adm)

  3. Click on the "Access management" box-shaped icon.

  4. Click on "Access Proposals", then "Moderate Proposals".

  5. In the "Actions" column, in the row of the proposal whose owner you wish to contact, click the dropdown list (besides the button labelled "Select", "Action", or "Change Reviewers" and select "Contact" from the list.

  6. In the window that appears, click "New Message" if no message has previously been sent to the proposal owner about this proposal, or click the "Reply" arrow icon to continue a previously existing conversation with the proposal owner.

  7. Complete the message text in the white text box at the bottom. Additional formatting elements can be selected using the bar above the text box.

  8. When the message has been completed click "Send".

    You will now see your sent message on the page. Some new icons appear where the new message formerly was, there is an option to flag the message (flag icon), an option to view the message participants (people icon) and a message to reply to the message (arrow icon).

To change notifications for the conversation for the selected proposal/visit

  1. Click the "Message Participants" people icon on the conversation.
  2. Check or uncheck the checkbox in the notifications column of the message participants table for your name to turn notifications on or off for the selected conversation.
  3. Check or uncheck the checkbox in the notifications column of the message participants table for another user to turn notifications on or off for that user for the selected conversation (You must be an conversation administrator yourself to perform this action).

To reply to a conversation for the selected proposal/visit

  1. Click the "Reply" arrow icon on the conversation.
  2. Complete the message body (see steps 6-7) and click "Send" when complete to send the message.

To flag the conversation for the selected proposal/visit

  1. Click the "Flag Message" flag icon on the conversation.

To control which users can administrate the conversation (You must be an conversation administrator yourself to perform this action)

  1. Click the "Message Participants" people icon on the conversation.
  2. Check or uncheck the checkbox in the "Admin" column of the message participants table for the user you wish to grant or remove administrator privileges for the selected conversation.

To hide or unhide names from non-administrators of the conversation (You must be an conversation administrator yourself to perform this action)

  1. Click the "Message Participants" people icon on the conversation.

    The first two columns of the message participants table show the true name of the user in the conversation ("Name" column) and the name which will appear when the full identity is hidden ("Hidden Name" column). The "Hidden Name" usually shows the role of the user in the conversation.

  2. Check or uncheck the checkbox in the "Hidden" column of the message participants table for a participant in the message to switch between showing the "Name" when unchecked, and the "Hidden Name" when checked.

To add a participant to the conversation (You must be an conversation administrator yourself to perform this action)

  1. Click the "Message Participants" people icon on the conversation.
  2. Click in the box marked "Select and begin typing" at the bottom of the message participants table.
  3. Begin to type the name of the ARIA user you wish to add to the conversation. When the name of the desired user appears below, click the name to select.
  4. Click the "Add User" button to the left of the user input box to add the selected user to the conversation.

To remove a participant from the conversation (You must be an conversation administrator yourself to perform this action)

  1. Click the "Message Participants" people icon on the conversation.
  2. Click the cross "x" button at the far right hand side of the message participants table in the row of the participant you wish to remove.
  3. Confirm the removal of the participant in the pop-up window which appears to complete.
