What you need to migrate your account?

You will need to know the following things to migrate your account:

  • The email address you registered with originally. If you are not sure what this is, please contact us.
  • Your old/existing password. If you do not know this you can reset your password.

How do I migrate my account?

Once you have the bits of information as detailed above, start by going to the migrate your account utility.

Account Migration

  • Enter your email address into the first field
  • In the second field type your existing password
  • In the third and fourth fields enter your new password. Your new password can be the same as your existing password, but must be:
    • At least 8 characters long
    • Contain at least one uppercase letter
    • Contain at least one lowercase letter
    • Contain at least one number
  • Click the I'm not a robot button and wait for a green check mark.

Why would I need to migrate my account?

Instruct has now moved to using single sign-on technology to power its login. As part of this, we now store our user accounts in a different place, and even more securely. Migrating your account moves it from the old system and into the new system. Why have we done this? You will be able to connect federated accounts to your Instruct account. Federated accounts usually refers to your home institute account, for instance your university account, or an Umbrella account. In future we will to use these federated identities to automate synchronisation of data between Instruct and facilities.
