Postdoctoral Position: Encapsulated CRISPR Gene-Editor for Mucosal Delivery

University of California, Davis, Davis, California, United States
Application deadline: 21 Aug 2020

A postdoctoral position is open in Dr. R. Holland Chang’s lab at The Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology, University of California, Davis supported by the NIH Somatic Cell Genome Editing consortium. The lab concentrates on characterising structures of multi-subunit complexes, utilising cryo-electron microscopy and correlative multimodal imaging, to re-purpose a self-reassembly, proteolysis-proof capsid towards mucosa-enabled theragnostics. The project will design and evaluate novel delivery systems for genome editing tools in mice and large animal models. In a team, the position’s primary focus is to evaluate the on-target and off-target activities by a mucosa-friendly capsid to deliver genetic and epigenetic editors. The successful candidate will participate in SCGE consortium network, seminars and team meetings to effectively prepare one’s accomplished research for timely peer-reviewed publications.

The applicant must have a Ph.D. in Structural Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Virology, Biomedical Engineering, or related field. Experience in working with cryoEM data processing, structural modeling, and/or whole-genome assays related to gene packaging/editing in vivo will be a plus. Candidates must have excellent communication skills and be resourceful to collaborative efforts among the SCGE consortial labs.
