You will play a leading role in a group of five structural biologists that are part of an interdisciplinary anti-cancer drug discovery team in the Newcastle Cancer Centre. Based in the laboratory of Professors Jane Endicott and Martin Noble the project is funded by a Strategic Alliance involving Cancer Research UK, Newcastle University and Astex Pharmaceuticals.

You will be active in establishing and applying an experimental and computational structural biology pipeline to complement the work of teams that specialise in biosciences, computational chemistry and medicinal chemistry.

You will have an undergraduate degree in a relevant science subject, preferably biomedical and a PhD in the area of protein biochemistry or biophysics, or X-ray crystallography. You will have experience of designing and delivering research projects as well as experience of leadership and supervising junior researchers within drug discovery or basic biomedical research. You will also have expertise in contemporary techniques in molecular biology

This position is tenable for 2 years from March 2013 or as soon as possible thereafter.
