WP2: Roadmap to the future for Instruct

A major focus of Instruct-ULTRA was the long-term sustainability of Instruct-ERIC. As such, through Work Package 2, a comprehensive review of the Instruct infrastructure and service provision was carried out, to consider new scientific demands and opportunities for expansion. This provided the foundation for an updated Business Plan, which offers guidance for Instruct-ERIC activities until 2022.

Instruct-ULTRA also considered best practice for accessing EU Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF) that can play an important role in the sustainability of Instruct-ERIC. Key advice on how to effectively leverage these funds was developed for dissemination to Instruct Centres.

Highlight

On 10 October 2019, Instruct-ULTRA hosted a sustainability workshop at the BELSPO office (Belgium Federal Ministry of Research) in Brussels. The workshop gathered 10 participants from within Instruct (Instruct Hub, Czech and French Instruct centres), members of other ESFRI projects who presented their approach to sustainability (ELIXIR, ECRIN, EATRIS), European Commission representatives (DG Research, Unit of Research and Industrial Infrastructures) and ESFRI representatives. This event provided an opportunity for open discussion on topics relating to infrastructure sustainability, including continued excellence, cutting edge technology, and communication.
